World Schools Championship Athletics 2017

World Schools Championship Athletics 2017: a unique occasion for young athletes from all around the world to gather together!

From 24th June to 30th June 2017, Nancy, a French city of Lorraine region, hosted one of the biggest sports events for young athletes: World Schools Championship Athletics 2017, organized by International School Sport Federation and the French School Sport Federation. The event underlined the educational and the social role of sport. Boys and girls from 24 countries such as Australia, Chile, Belgium or Chinese Taipei gathered together not only to compete, but also to learn from each other, meet new cultures and make international friendships.

1000 participants, 500 athletes, 200 volunteers: the ISF WSC Athletics represented a unique chance for young people to come together, not only for sport purposes, but also to get to know different cultures.
Renaud Lavillenie, a French pole vaulter, became the ambassador of the ISF WSC Athletics 2017. Lavillenie won gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in London and silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. He is also the current world record holder, with a height of 6.16 m set indoors in 2014.

All the athletes had one more reason to be motivated to deliver the best results they can – the most successful ones had a unique chance to compete during the Stanislas Meeting held on the 28th of June. This event was a great opportunity to inspire the future generation of athletes. The best young athletes competed next to their idols and felt the professional atmosphere of this significant global athletic event!
