KINDER JOY OF MOVING CONTINUES ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH SAVE THE CHILDREN USA
Thanks to the Kinder Joy of moving partnership with Save the Children, the ongoing implementation of Kinder Joy of moving programming throughout their SummerBoost™ camps helps, children continue to thrive through the summer months. Families and caregivers are learning the importance of an active lifestyle, in addition to ways of integrating physical activity into their children’s lives that can be both educational and fun.
The SummerBoost™ program is a six-week long program that ensures children do not succumb to the “summer slide”- when they begin to lose the progress made during the school year due to a lack of continued learning and access to educational resources.
Last summer, Kinder Joy of moving reached more than 3,000 children across 35 sites in West Virginia, Tennessee and California, and distributed 3,356 Kinder Joy of moving activity kits for children and families to enjoy at home.
In addition, Kinder Joy of moving piloted two mobile units to deliver Joy of moving and Learning kits to children in communities where SummerBoost™ programming programming is not available, as well as to areas where transportation challenges limit families’ access. With support of the mobile units, Save the Children Early Childhood Coordinators visited families facing this barrier, presented the materials to the adults at home, and guided families through one of the many Joy of moving games.
In addition, Kinder Joy of moving hosted two family events in West Virginia, sparking a newfound enthusiasm for interactive learning and fostering a stronger sense of community within the schools.
