With the support of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Sport project, the 2022 edition of ISF She Runs - Active Girls' Lead has taken place on Sept. 12-17 and has been hosted by the city of Brussels, Belgium, and has featured 3,000 young girls between the ages of 13 and 18 gathering from 35 countries to engage in activities, as well as spread, promote and inspire female participation in sports and beyond.

Not only consisting of a 4km run through the city streets of Brussels, this event has also briought with it many workshops and fun activities to discover Brussels and its culture mixing elements and perspectives from the history of the city combined with a ted talk composed of inspiring and successful women leaders in sport giving the young participants advice and stories from their experiences in the world of sport.

Expert facilitators have conducted workshops to design and shape tangible local and European projects related to the topics of gender equality and sustainable development issues through sport, aiming to support girls in becoming more physically active in their local communities and schools.

Furthermore, a conference gathering stakeholders from city decision makers, EU institutions, international sport stakeholders, educational and private organizations working on developing the role of sport as a tool to raise awareness among the young generation and on the importance of sustainability of sport events, has concluded the event.

Kinder Joy of moving is present as a partner and organizes several activities with the participating athletes and rewards those who demonstrate the most correct and respectful behavior with the Fair Play trophy.

Kinder Joy of moving and ISF share the desire to spread the culture of movement and promote health and empowerment of young women leading the change towards a more sustainable world in and through sport.

“This event demonstrates the importance of the cooperation between the organizations of the civil society, the cities, the international institutions and the corporate industry, all joining forces for health, women’s and girls’ emancipation and women through sports. It’s an essential effort of gender equality.” concludes Laurent Petrynka, President of the ISF.
