In the UK, we identified that children’s activity levels drop significantly in the winter months, so to help inspire families to get active, we launched a brand new activity called the Winter Games for families to play at home!
As schools remain closed for many children, we wanted to show our continued support for communities up and down the country at a crucial time when it is even more important for children to stay active.
The Winter Games were developed with our long-term charity partners the EFL Trust and aimed to take families on a cool winter adventure from the comfort of their own home. All the new games and activities that have been created in line with our unique Joy of moving methodology!
We also encouraged families to share on social what they had been doing as part of the Winter Games for a chance to win £500 worth of equipment for their children’s school! In under two weeks we saw 4,000 people visit the games section of our Joy of moving Resource Hub and reached 4.2 million people via our social campaign.
However, we won’t stop there, we have some exciting plans to keep encouraging families to get moving through play during the Easter and Summer breaks with lots of fun and simple games from our resource hub. We will be raising awareness of our resource hub through a dedicated PR, influencer and social campaign under our new Ready, steady play platform – so watch this space.
In addition, our in-depth school’s programme will be restarting in March as schools in the UK to go back post lifting of our national lockdown. Through our Move & Learn Project and our Joy of Moving Festivals we aim to support and inspire 70,000 children to learn about activity, nutrition and hydration – all while having fun!
Remember, you and your family can also take part in any of our games that are available online on the Joy of moving Resource Hub.
So, whatever the game, let joy win!
