Joy of moving UK launches brand new games to keep families active at home

In the UK, we identified that children’s activity levels drop significantly in the winter months, so to help inspire families to get active, we launched a brand new activity called the Winter Games in 2021 for families to play at home!

As schools remained closed for many children in the winter of 2021, we wanted to show our continued support for communities up and down the country at a crucial time when it was even more important for children to stay active.

The Winter Games were developed with our long-term charity partners the EFL Trust and aimed to take families on an winter adventure from the comfort of their own home. All the new games and activities were created in line with our unique Joy of moving methodology!

We also encouraged families to share on social what they had been doing as part of the Winter Games for a chance to win equipment for their children’s school! In under two weeks we saw 4,000 people visit the games section of our Joy of moving Resource Hub and we reached 4.2 million people via our social campaign.

However, we didn’t stop there, we developed some exciting plans to keep encouraging families to get moving through play during the Easter and Summer breaks with lots of fun and simple games from our Resource Hub.
